The Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has announced that federal contractors may now begin submitting applications nominating their establishments for OFCCP’s new “Excellence in Disability Inclusion” (EDI) award. The award, which was approved recently by the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), aims to “highlight successful practices and strategies that have expanded and improved the recruitment, hiring, retention, and promotion opportunities of individuals with disabilities.”

In response to comments NT Lakis lawyers filed on the agency’s original proposal, OFCCP made a number of helpful clarifications to the EDI award program that we believe will encourage participation and decrease the burden for those contractors who elect to apply for recognition. 

Applications for the EDI award may be submitted online at, and are due by August 31, 2019.
