Annual workforce drug testing rates recently made available by Quest Diagnostics, an industry leader in diagnostic and clinical testing, show illicit drug use by employees — especially marijuana, opiate, and cocaine — increased in 2016 from the previous year, and in some cases was the highest percentage recorded by the drug testing index (DTI) in years.
The DTI findings comport with the survey data compiled by the federal government’s annual “National Survey on Drug Use and Health,” which we reported on earlier this year.
Quest’s “Drug Testing Index: Employer Solutions Annual Report” (Spring 2017) provides a comprehensive analysis of workplace drug use trends. The DTI has been published annually for over 25 years and is available for free download from Quest’s website.
