During the Obama Administration, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB or Board), which enforces the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), was especially aggressive in expanding its jurisdiction beyond its traditional role of resolving labor-management disputes, to include targeting a wide variety of common sense employer policies and practices that have little direct relationship to federal labor law. As a result, employers increasingly had to take NLRB interpretations into consideration when formulating company policy.
To help illuminate the impact of NLRB determinations on workplace policy, we thought it might be helpful to analyze NLRB enforcement data. We therefore prepared a summary of highlights of NLRB enforcement numbers for Fiscal Year 2017, the most recent year available.
