California (SB 1162) and Washington (RCW 49.58.110) have joined Colorado in enacting legislation requiring covered employers to include compensation information for positions when posting job vacancy announcements, effective January 1, 2023. In addition, Rhode Island has enacted new salary disclosure requirements, also effective January 1, 2023. Indeed, since Colorado’s pay disclosure law went into effect last year, the number of state and local jurisdictions with these types of laws on the books has continued to increase. For example, New York State is poised to become the latest state with such requirements in the latter half of 2023.
