New York Governor Kathy Hochul has signed into law a measure that will require covered employers in New York state to include salary information in job postings, starting this fall.
Hochul signed S.9427-A/A.10477 following an unexplained delay of several months after the state legislature passed the bill in June 2022. It will require covered employers to display pay information in job postings for all positions, including promotions and transfers, that can or will be performed, at least in part, in New York.
The new law will go into effect in September 2023.
With this action, New York joins California, Colorado, Washington, New York City, and a few smaller localities mandating pay disclosure.
