STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Staff Accountants support the firm’s finance and accounting team by performing general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, processing cash receipts, and assisting with monthly closings. They also support the accurate preparation, review, and electronic delivery of client invoices, and handle day-to-day responsibilities related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, time and billing matters, and related finance and accounting activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining accurate financial records, including timely and accurate maintenance of all accounting transactions
  • Ensures accuracy of ledger account entries and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger
  • Compiles financial data required for balance sheet, profit and loss, and other financial reports
  • Assists in analyzing costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
  • Works closely with firm clients on invoicing requirements, preparation, review, and delivery of invoices, and related invoicing matters
  • Analyzes and reconciles accounts and projects, manages cash disbursements and receipts, and handles required reporting for cash transactions
  • Works on finance- and accounting-related projects and matters of limited complexity
  • Completes vendor/supplier information forms and documentation as required
  • Assists in maintaining accounts payable ledger and related activities

Education

  • BA/BS in accounting, finance, or other business-related field required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience supporting a finance or accounting function (requirement can be satisfied with one or more summer, part-time, or internship positions in the finance/accounting field)
  • Experienced in working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel; some experience with Microsoft Access preferred
