E-Verify is the internet-based employment authorization verification database that allows participating employers to electronically verify the work authorization of all new hires. Employers use the database by matching information provided by employees on the Form I-9 against existing information contained in Social Security Administration (SSA) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) records. E-Verify is administered jointly by SSA and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a division of DHS.
