According to statistics recently obtained by CWC from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), employment-related lawsuit filings in federal court fell in fiscal year (FY) 2020 almost 10% from the year before to the lowest number recorded over the past 20 years. This occurred despite the fact that the overall number of civil lawsuits filed increased by a whopping 58% to a record high, driven by a jump in personal injury and tort actions spawned in part by the COVID-19 pandemic.
