In early March Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law SB1480, a bill amending the Illinois Equal Pay Act (ILEPA) and the Illinois Business Corporation Act (ILBCA) to require covered employers to submit to the state certain workforce demographic and employee pay data in coming years. Please note that these reporting obligations are separate and apart from one another as explained in more detail below.
Most significantly, starting in 2024, employers with more than 100 Illinois employees must begin reporting employee pay data to the state. The new reporting requirement appears similar to both the discontinued EEO-1 Component 2 reporting and the California pay reporting requirement implemented earlier this year. At this point, however, other than the fact that covered employers will have to begin reporting data in 2024 and obtain an “Equal Pay Registration Certificate,” there is little additional information yet available on the specifics.
