According to the most up-to-date national Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI), released recently by the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and covering calendar year 2017, the total number of homicides in U.S. workplaces declined to 458 from the 500 recorded in 2016, an 8% drop, and the first decline recorded in four years. Similarly, 2017 saw a slight 5% decline in workplace suicides, to 275, down from the all-time high of 291 suicides reported in 2016.
