Last week, NT Lakis attorneys participated in an invitation-only “stakeholder engagement” meeting with new Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) Director Ondray Harris and other Department of Labor (DOL) officials. The meeting was held to solicit input from contractor representatives on the agency’s path forward under the Trump Administration.

The session focused largely on the Trump Administration’s efforts to improve transparency and compliance assistance, and to explore how apprenticeship programs might help OFCCP achieve its mission. Two other sessions were held, one with representatives from companies, and another with civil rights advocacy group representatives.

While issues related to apprenticeships may not be part of the usual discussions federal contractors have had with OFCCP in recent years, the topic of workforce development, and apprenticeship programs in particular, are a high priority for Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta.
