Once again burnishing its reputation as the most progressive state for expanding employee worksite protection, the California legislature has approved and the governor has signed a slew of new employment-related legislation, wrapping up another active legislative year.
Among the bills signed into law is SB 973, which requires California employers to collect and annually report their employees’ pay data based on race, ethnicity, and sex starting on March 31, 2021. This new pay reporting requirement is similar to the federal EEO-1 “Component 2” reporting that has since been discontinued.
