The U.S. Senate this week confirmed President Trump’s nomination of management employment lawyer John Ring to a term on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB or Board) expiring on December 16, 2022. On April 12, the White House announced that President Trump has designated Mr. Ring as the Board’s new Chairman, replacing Marvin Kaplan, who will continue to serve as a Member.

Mr. Ring’s confirmation gives the NLRB a Trump-appointed 3 – 2 Republican majority, and along with Republican General Counsel Peter Robb, is likely to further accelerate the Board’s move away from the expansionist approach taken by the Democratic-controlled NLRB during the Obama Administration.
