Enforcement statistics covering fiscal year (FY) 2020 released recently by the four federal agencies with jurisdiction over retaliation complaints filed by corporate whistleblowers show a notable increase in activity as compared to the previous year. In just one example, the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the federal agency with responsibility for handling whistleblower retaliation complaints under most federal whistleblower retaliation statutes, saw an 11.5% increase in complaints, most of which were filed under the OSH Act.

Here, we summarize the whistleblower statistical reports for FY 2020 issued respectively by OSHA, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
