The Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS) officially opened the 2016 filing season on August 1, 2016, for the annual VETS-4212 report.  The VETS-4212 is a mandatory report that covered federal contractors must file with the agency regarding the employment of protected veterans.

Under DOL-VETS reporting requirements, federal contractors are required to file a VETS-4212 if the company held at least one qualifying contract in the prior calendar year.  Effective October 1, 2015, DOL-VETS increased the threshold under which federal contractors are required to file a VETS-4212 from $100,000 to $150,000.  Given the effective date of the threshold increase, the timing of a qualifying contract can determine whether a company is required to file a VETS-4212 for the 2016 filing cycle.

Other than the increase in the filing threshold, the filing requirements are the same as last year.

The “VETS-4212 Federal Contractor Reporting” home page is available here.  The deadline for submitting completed 2016 VETS-4212 reports to DOL-VETS is September 30, 2016.
