We wanted to remind employers that the filing season for your 2018 EEO-1 reports is expected to begin within the next few weeks. Now is a good time to be preparing to pull the data necessary to file this annual report, which must be filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) by March 31, 2019.

We also wanted to take this opportunity to clear up some confusion caused by recent changes to the EEO-1 Survey Website. It seems that the Joint Reporting Committee (JRC), which is composed of representatives from the EEOC and the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and which administers the EEO-1 filing process, has already begun preparing for the upcoming filing season by uploading “template” reports for each employer to the website.

These templates, which are prominently marked “UNCERTIFIED,” have raised questions among some employers about when the 2018 EEO-1s are due as well as whether there might be a problem with last year’s filing.

To repeat, completed 2018 EEO-1s are not required to be filed until the March 31, 2019, deadline.
