There are now at least nine states and numerous local jurisdictions that prohibit private employers from asking job applicants about their criminal histories on a job application and, in some cases, until a conditional job offer is made.  Since April 2016, Vermont and Connecticut, as well as the city of Los Angeles have joined the growing list of states and cities that have enacted so-called “ban-the-box” laws.  Accordingly, NT Lakis attorneys have prepared a summary of these recently passed laws.
