President Trump has formally announced his intent to nominate management-side attorney John F. Ring to fill the open seat formerly occupied by Republican Philip Miscimarra on the five-member National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

Assuming Mr. Ring’s nomination is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Republicans will regain a 3 – 2 majority, which they held briefly last year prior to Mr. Miscimarra’s departure in December, and are likely to continue to look for opportunities to rein in the Board’s overreach during the Obama Administration into areas that strayed widely away from traditional labor-management disputes.
