The 2017 reporting season for Employer Information (EEO-1) Reports began officially on January 22, 2018, with the launch of the 2017 EEO-1 Survey Website. Employers should be receiving their company’s 2017 annual Notification Letters from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) by mail on or before January 29, 2018. Completed EEO-1s are due by March 31, 2018.

In conjunction with the revised filing deadline for the 2017 reports – March 31, 2018 instead of September 30, 2017 – the EEO-1 Joint Reporting Committee (JRC), composed of the EEOC and the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), has launched a new, more “user friendly” EEO-1 Survey Application for the 2017 reporting season. Among the new features, companies will be able to more easily add or delete establishment locations, as appropriate, and reset or create new passwords.

Please keep in mind that under still applicable EEO-1 filing procedures, filers cannot certify EEO-1 Reports for more than one legal entity at the same physical address if the entities share the same address, NAICS code, and Employer Identification Number (EIN). These filers will be required to either change the NAICS code to one that more accurately describes the location’s major business activity, change the EIN, or combine these records into one record for that establishment address.

As was the case with the previous filing cycle, the JRC is resetting user passwords. In order to get their new password, users will need the “company number” contained in the annual Notification Letter and the email address that was used to file last year’s report.

The JRC’s new “EEO-1 Survey User’s Guide” is available here. In addition, the EEOC has prepared a new “how to” guide, designed to walk companies through filing their EEO-1 Reports.
