Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Chair Janet Dhillon has announced that Nevada attorney Ketan D. Bhirud has been appointed as the Commission’s new Legal Counsel. The appointment fills a vacancy that has existed since 2017 when former EEOC Legal Counsel Peggy Mastroianni retired.
As the EEOC’s new Legal Counsel, Mr. Bhirud will be responsible for advising the agency on legal and policy matters, including the development of written enforcement guidance, regulations, and other official interpretations of the laws the agency enforces.
In announcing his appointment, Chair Dhillon said that Mr. Bhirud’s “rich experience in both the public and private sectors will benefit this agency as we continue to combat employment discrimination.”
