As we reported recently, the U.S. Census Bureau has released the long-awaited successor to the 2006-2010 EEO Tabulation. The “EEO Tabulation” is a collection of detailed occupational data tables that many companies use to develop labor market availability estimates for their corporate equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity and compliance programs.

The majority of the tables in the new 2014-2018 EEO Tabulation provide detailed race, ethnicity, and sex headcounts by occupational groupings within the Census Bureau’s Occupational Classification Code (OCC) system. These OCCs in turn become the new “occupational language” employers will use in their affirmative action program (AAP) availability calculations and diversity benchmarking initiatives for years to come.

Here, we provide an overview of the new OCCs, as well as an attached draft “crosswalk” that will allow employers to map their existing OCCs over to the new OCC system.
