In another welcome development from the Department of Labor, the Veterans’ Education and Training Service (DOL-VETS) has announced that the agency is granting federal contractors an additional 45 days to file their 2017 VETS-4212 reports. This action is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to accommodate employers impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Thus, while the filing deadline for the VETS-4212 report is still officially September 30, DOL-VETS is exercising its enforcement discretion to not penalize late filers – making the unofficial filing deadline now Wednesday, November 15. The DOL-VETS online filing system will remain open and technical support will remain available through that date.

It is important to note that this additional 45-day grace period is available to all contractors subject to the VETS-4212 reporting requirements – not simply those impacted by the storms, as some other groups indicated initially. However, the agency does urge those contractors that are able to file by the September 30 deadline to do so.

No additional steps are required to take advantage of the 45-day grace period. If your organization anticipates needing additional time beyond November 15 to file your VETS-4212 report, you are encouraged to contact VETS-4212 customer support by calling 1-866-237-0275 or via email at VETS4212-customersupport@dol.gov.
