The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced this week that it expects to open the filing period for both the “Component 1” 2019 and 2020 Employer Information (EEO-1) Reports in April of 2021, slightly behind its original March projected date.
The EEOC ultimately postponed the collection of the 2019 EEO-1 reports for a variety of reasons, including delays and disruptions caused by pending litigation regarding collection of so-called “Component 2” data and the coronavirus pandemic. These factors eventually led the agency to conclude that it would make more sense to collect both the 2019 and 2020 Component 1 EEO-1 data beginning in March of 2021, in conjunction with the normal annual EEO-1 filing period.
This week’s announcement indicates that the EEOC has now pushed back that date for another month until this April, and that the agency anticipates covered employers will be able to file their 2019 and 2020 EEO-1s beginning then. Details as to the exact timing and filing specifications will be released at a later date.
