The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) recently announced the first recipients of its “HIRE Vets Medallion Award,” a voluntary program under which small, medium, and large employers can seek recognition for exemplary efforts in recruiting, employing, and retaining veterans.
The HIRE Vets Medallion program, which is administrated by the Labor Department’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS), was created by the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017, or “HIRE Vets Act.” In 2018, DOL-VETS conducted a “Program Demonstration,” a trial run of the Medallion program designed to prepare DOL-VETS for full program implementation in 2019.
During the 2018 Program Demonstration, application fees were waived, and applications were limited to the first 300 employers.
A complete list of the 2018 Demonstration Program awardees, along with more information about the programs, is available here.
