Election season can create some unique challenges for employers in dealing with employees who wish to voice their opinions about a candidate or political issue. These opinions can be impassioned and have the potential to be both offensive to other employees and disruptive to the workplace, whether the physical worksite or the virtual workplace. In other words, compliance issues surrounding political discourse “in the workplace” are not just limited to in-person interactions, and remain relevant even in this time of the coronavirus pandemic when so many employees are working remotely.
