The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage and Hour Division (WHD) has issued two new documents — a new employer guidebook and a revised poster — designed to facilitate compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The new Employer’s Guide to the Family and Medical Leave Act summarizes covered employers’ obligations under each step of the FMLA compliance process.  The revised poster, which updates the FMLA poster released by WHD in February 2013, is designed for employers to satisfy the obligation to inform employees of their FMLA rights.  Employers that have elected to use the 2013 version of WHD’s poster do not have to replace it with the new version.

In fact, employers are not required to use either version of the WHD poster, as long as they otherwise meet FMLA employee notice posting requirements.

The new Employer’s Guide and revised poster are available on DOL’s website, respectively.
