The Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS) has launched a new website — www.veterans.gov — with a wide array of resources designed to assist veteran job seekers and employers who are interested in hiring veterans.
Among other things, the new website contains tools to find local American Job Center locations, veterans’ employment coordinator contact information, and materials that could be useful for employers seeking to hire veterans.
Relevant to the vets’ affirmative action requirements that apply to federal contractors, veterans.gov also allows a company to list its job openings directly with individual state “job banks.” The new federal site also provides companies an option to allow the U.S. jobs National Labor Exchange to acquire job listing information directly from the company’s career website and provide a daily feed to veterans.gov.
It is unclear at this time whether, and to what extent, listing open positions with veterans.gov may satisfy the requirement that contractors list positions with appropriate employment service delivery systems (ESDS).
