The Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC), our affiliated nonprofit membership association, has launched a State and Local AI Laws resource online. This new resource is designed to keep our members apprised of the growing number of state and local laws that govern the use of artificial intelligence in making employment decisions.
Among the laws summarized in CWC’s new resource are Illinois’ Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act, which requires a covered employer to obtain an applicant’s consent before administering a video interview that uses AI to assess the applicant’s responses and facial expressions; New York City’s Automated Employment Decision Tools law, which requires covered employers to conduct and publish the results of an annual independent bias audit of AI tools that they use in recruiting; and a Colorado law that regulates workplace use of high-risk AI systems.
CWC plans to update the State and Local AI Laws resource as new developments occur.
