Enforcement data posted recently by the Labor Department’s (DOL’s) Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) covering Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 (October 1, 2019 – September 30, 2020) show a slight 2% decrease in overall compliance evaluation audits completed by the agency as compared to the previous year. OFCCP reports that it closed 1,318 compliance evaluation audits in FY 2020, compared to the 1,343 audits completed in FY 2019. OFCCP also closed 50 complaint investigations in FY 2020, a significant drop from the 89 completed in FY 2019.
Despite the slight drop in audits closed, OFCCP secured over $35.6 million for impacted class members during FY 2020, the second-highest amount ever recorded by the agency, and just $5 million less than the all-time high of $40.6 million collected in FY 2019. These numbers are impressive considering that OFCCP did not initiate any formal enforcement actions against federal contractors in FY 2020.
