As we approach the November elections, we thought it might be helpful to provide a state-by-state summary of voter leave entitlement laws. While there is no federal law that grants employees the right to take time off to vote, there are now at least 30 states (as well as Puerto Rico) that provide some level of protected leave to allow employees the opportunity to vote.
Accordingly, NT Lakis attorneys and non-attorney professionals have prepared a state-by-state summary of the protection provided under each of these laws. Please note that our intent is to provide a general summary, and our summary does not purport to analyze every provision of each law. Accordingly, we recommend that you check the law of the particular state in which you have an interest to ensure compliance.
