Once again, Congress has failed to reach agreement on spending levels to fund the government for the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023), which began on October 1, instead opting to enact a stopgap measure that funds government operations at FY 2022 spending levels through December 16, 2022.
As a result, enforcement agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Labor Department’s (DOL) Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) will not get the large budget increases they were hoping for, at least for now.
Passage of the so-called “continuing resolution,” which has become the norm in recent years, gives Congress additional time to reach a spending deal by deferring final FY 2023 spending decisions until after the fall elections.
