A report released last month by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) located within the Department of Labor (DOL) details several “serious” management challenges facing the agency.  Among other things, the report —  Top Management and Performance Challenges Facing the U.S. Department of Labor finds that DOL information security practices continue to “represent ongoing, unnecessary risks to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of DOL’s information.”

The OIG report is particularly alarming given DOL’s focus in recent years on developing a cloud-based enforcement system, and given the highly sensitive, employee-level compensation information DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) collects in its compliance evaluations.
