As part of a pre-election deal between U.S. Senate Republicans and Democrats to approve an agreed-upon package of pending Presidential nominations so that Senators could return to their home states to campaign before the November mid-term elections, the Senate has voted to confirm Eric S. Dreiband to serve as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. Mr. Dreiband’s confirmation comes more than a year after he was nominated by President Trump for the position.
At the same time, however, the Senate wrapped up its pre-election business without taking action on a number of other pending Trump nominations, including those to fill key vacancies at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Labor (DOL).
