Late last week, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) submitted its second status report to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, describing the steps it is taking to comply with the court’s order that the agency must collect so-called EEO-1 “Component 2” pay and hours-worked data for both 2017 and 2018 by September 30, 2019.
These periodic status reports were required by the court as a result of a lawsuit brought by worker advocacy groups that challenged the Trump White House Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) suspension of the EEO-1 pay collection requirements that were mandated by the Obama-era EEOC in 2016.
According to its latest update, the EEOC indicates that it is currently on
track to open the Component 2 data collections for Calendar Years 2017 and 2018
on or about July 15, 2019. The data is to be submitted electronically to a
third-party contractor, NORC at the University of Chicago, rather than directly
to the EEOC. At this point, however, the file specifications EEO-1 filers will
be required to comply with still have not been finalized.
