The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (DOL-WHD) has published proposed changes to the optional forms that employers can use to meet their notice obligations to employees under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Although there are no substantive changes in the forms’ content, DOL has rearranged and clarified the information contained in the forms to make them more user-friendly to employers and employees. According to DOL, the revised forms should help to “reduce the number of forms returned for additional information because they are considered incomplete or contain insufficient information…and reduce the amount of time it takes to complete some of the optional-use forms.”
The DOL-WHD proposal is available online, as are the proposed revisions to the forms. DOL-WHD is inviting public comments on the proposed changes until October 4, 2019.
