NT Lakis lawyers have filed written comments with the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage and Hour Division supporting the agency’s proposed rule to modify its “tip” regulations in order to bring them in line with amendments made to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in 2018. The 2018 amendments were designed to resolve a contentious debate about tip ownership and the flexibility given to employers to create mandatory tip pools. Our comments strongly support the proposal as accurately interpreting the 2018 amendments in a straightforward manner.
