NT Lakis, on behalf of the Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC), filed written comments with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) this week in support of the agency’s proposal to revise its conciliation procedures to better ensure that employers have adequate information to understand the legal and factual basis for the EEOC’s position, as well as the relief the agency is seeking.

Our comments emphasize the importance of including clear conciliation standards within the agency’s regulations, citing to a litany of past inconsistent and sometimes arbitrary practices that belied the agency’s duty to conciliate in good faith. Accordingly, we offer our strong support for the disclosure standards proposed by the Commission, while offering a few suggestions for further improvement.
