A number of government contractors have received one or more requests recently from several different third party entities, including the New York City Comptroller and Bloomberg News, requesting a wide range of demographic reports and data, as well as a commitment by the company to disclose past and future components of the Employer Information (EEO-1) Reports filed each year with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

For example, the New York City Comptroller form letters, addressed to corporate CEOs of certain companies in the S&P 100, include a request that companies “voluntarily include pay data identical to that previously reported in Component 2 of the Company’s EEO‐1 Report.” According to a press release issued by the Comptroller in conjunction with the requests, he is calling on “major companies that have issued statements in support of racial equality and/or affirming diversity and inclusion to match their words with concrete actions by disclosing EEO-1 Report data.”

In response to this latest round of requests, we are pleased to present an updated template letter that could be used to help craft a company response to these more recent requests.
