The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced that it intends to seek approval from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to extend the recordkeeping and reporting requirements of the Federal Contractor Veterans’ Employment Report (VETS-4212) for three more years, without any changes. The VETS-4212 is a mandatory report that covered federal contractors must file annually with the Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS).
Routine periodic requests by federal agencies to extend information collection requirements are required under the federal Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), and must be formally approved by OMB. The process is initiated, as here, with a published “preclearance consultation” in which interested parties have the opportunity to comment on the content and utility of the recordkeeping and reporting requirements at issue before the agency submits its formal request for extension to OMB.
