According to an announcement posted late last week by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on its EEO-1 Survey website, covered employers will now have until Monday, October 25, 2021, to file their 2019 and 2020 Employer Information (EEO-1) Reports. This is the second such extension of the filing period announced by EEOC, with the original filing deadline first extended from July 19, 2021, to August 23, 2021. This most recent extension announcement does state, however, “that this new deadline is the FINAL DEADLINE and all eligible filers MUST submit data by this date. No additional changes to the filing deadline will be made.”
The need for this second extension appeared to be almost inevitable due to a combination of a large backlog in support requests that have been submitted by filers to the contractor retained by the EEOC to collect the EEO-1 data, as well as several errors that have occurred in the filing process itself.
