The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has published preliminary statistics that shed light on the agency’s overall enforcement efforts over the past fiscal year, which ended on September 30, 2019. The statistics are contained in the EEOC’s recently published Agency Financial Report (AFR) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019.

Current federal law requires executive branch and independent agencies to produce and submit to the President and Congress certain annual reports detailing their financial condition, program performance, and overall progress towards achieving key objectives, one of which is the AFR. In one item of particular note, the AFR indicates that the EEOC reduced its charge backlog to the lowest level in 13 years.

A copy of the EEOC’s FY 2019 AFR is available online.
