The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has received final approval from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to begin using an expanded EEO-1 Report to collect billions of additional data points from covered employers regarding employee pay and hours worked.  OMB approved the proposed version of the form submitted for clearance by the EEOC this past July, without change.  Regrettably, OMB chose to disregard recommendations for improvement to the form suggested in extensive written comments filed by NT Lakis lawyers.

In conjunction with the newly expanded EEO-1, the EEOC has also changed the EEO-1 reporting period and the form’s filing deadline.  Covered employers will be required to begin using the expanded EEO-1 for reporting calendar year 2017 data, and completed reports will be due to the EEOC by March 31, 2018.  The last reports using the outgoing EEO-1, covering the 2016 filing cycle, were due by September 30, 2016.
