Mike Eastman has been invited to testify on behalf of CWC next week at a virtual public hearing to be held by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to explore “the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on workers, the difficulties faced by employers in navigating potential employment discrimination issues raised by COVID-19, and future challenges the pandemic may present for employees and employers.”

The April 28 virtual hearing is the first public meeting held under the leadership of new agency Chair Charlotte Burrows, and will feature 13 witnesses, including Mike Eastman, CWC’s senior vice president of policy and assistant general counsel. Mike plans to focus his remarks on areas where the EEOC could issue immediate guidance under the various laws the agency enforces to help employers navigate questions regarding the EEO implications of issues such as vaccine mandates and incentives and return-to-work policies. He also plans to raise several emerging issues that employers are beginning to grapple with, for example the implications of vaccine credentialing requirements.
