The U.S. Census Bureau has released its long-awaited 2014-2018 EEO Tabulation, also referred to as the “EEO Special File,” containing detailed occupational data tables that many companies use to develop labor market availability estimates for their corporate equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity and compliance programs.

Consistent with its predecessor (the 2006-2010 EEO Tabulation), the majority of the tables in the new 2014-2018 EEO Tabulation provide detailed race, ethnicity, and sex headcounts by occupational groupings within the Census Bureau’s Occupational Classification Code (OCC) system. These OCCs in turn are used to retrieve “availability” data from one or more geographical areas. Federal contractors refer to these areas in their affirmative action programs (AAPs) as “reasonable recruitment areas.”
