Several of the individuals that the President has nominated to fill key positions at the federal agencies that regulate the workplace saw their nominations advance last week as the U.S. Senate Democratic leadership turned its attention to getting them confirmed.
Among other positions, the Senate – all on close party-line votes – confirmed a new Deputy Secretary and a new Solicitor of Labor, an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Commissioner, as well as teed up a vote soon on a new National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel. The Senate Labor Committee also took action to advance two new NLRB members and a new Labor Department (DOL) Wage and Hour Administrator. Here’s a recap of the most recent developments that have occurred since our last nomination update in June.
