NT Lakis lawyers have prepared a new “Talking Points” guide designed to assist employers in educating managers and supervisors on the Department of Labor’s (DOL) recently published revisions to its “while collar” overtime regulations, and to help them answer questions they may receive about the new requirements.
The revised regulations, which double the current salary threshold for determining when an employee is no longer automatically entitled to overtime pay, will require many employers to revisit the issue of whether particular employees should be classified as overtime-eligible or overtime-exempt. The new requirements are scheduled to go into effect on December 1, 2016.
Although the specific impact of DOL’s new overtime rule will depend on such factors as the industry in which the company operates and places where they do business, the general impact of the rule is broad enough and is generating attention across-the-board. Accordingly, our “Talking Points” offer guidance on how to prepare managers and supervisors with information to help ensure compliance.
