More than a year and a half after she was initially nominated for the position by President Trump, the U.S. Senate on April 10, by a party-line vote of 53 to 45, confirmed Cheryl Marie Stanton as Administrator of the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division. Ms. Stanton was sworn into the position by Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta on April 29, 2019.
The Wage and Hour Administrator slot has been vacant since former Administrator Dr. David Weil resigned at the end of the Obama Administration. Having a confirmed Administrator should provide additional leadership to assist the Department of Labor (DOL) in advancing the Administration’s policy and enforcement priorities.
