The Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC), our affiliated nonprofit membership association, has released its August 2026 update of developments in state and local workplace compliance laws.
This Interstate resource highlights fair employment laws governing anti-discrimination enforcement in Illinois and Virginia, artificial intelligence in Colorado, and criminal history in San Francisco.
It also reports on immigration developments related to employment eligibility verification in Iowa. It chronicles wage and hour developments related to minimum wage in California and to leave in Arizona, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, and San Francisco.
Other topics include the electronic monitoring of employees in Connecticut, non-compete agreements in Louisiana, and a New Jersey requirement that employers report employees’ separation information electronically to the Division of Unemployment Insurance. Updates about Illinois concern job protection for volunteer emergency workers and restrictions on employers’ ability to require a driver’s license as a condition of employment.
