In a continuing sign that the Biden administration believes it should consider a company’s labor law compliance when awarding federal contracts, it has instructed the major federal contracting agencies to designate one or more “labor advisors” by February 15, 2023, to advise agency officials on federal contract labor matters. The memo, issued jointly by Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shalanda Young and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, also announces the formation of a “Contract Labor Advisor Group (CLAG)” to promote better understanding and implementation of contract labor laws.
