The California Civil Rights Department (CRD) released its annual analysis of employer-submitted pay data for 2024 on March 26, along with the results portal, which allows employers and the public to review aggregated compensation data by job category, race, ethnicity, and gender. The data, which covers nearly 8 million workers statewide, is drawn from annual Pay Data Reports submitted by private employers that have 100 or more employees.

Women and people of color remain disproportionately represented in lower-paid positions across large private-sector employers, according to a CRD press statement. The agency said that its release of the aggregated pay data can encourage employers’ voluntary compliance with equal pay and anti-discrimination laws while affirming California’s continued enforcement focus on pay equity and employer reporting compliance.

Covered employers should prepare to timely file their next California Pay Data Report by May 13.
